Mylene de Guzman, LL.B.
Mylene’s practice is primarily in the area of family law. Although she places important emphasis on the prospect of out-of-court settlements whenever possible, Mylene’s experience is concentrated in the litigation process, with regular court attendances for the resolution of files. She has appeared in all levels of court, including the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, and the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
A past co-chairperson of the Canadian Bar Association of B.C. (CBABC) Westminster Family Law Section, Mylene looks forward to re-integrating with colleagues who were fundamental in helping to formulate her early career experiences that began when she was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1996.
Following her articles in 1996 with Greig, Skagen, and Kennedy in Surrey, she became their first associate and remained to practice there until 2005. She left to open a practice with two partners in the Gastown area of Vancouver, as Pepper, Longe, de Guzman, LL.P. In 2010, Mylene opened her own law firm in a Gastown loft, which is today known as de Guzman Law Centre.
After spending the past nine years practising in Vancouver, Mylene has returned to original neighbourhood of New Westminster where she is fortunate to have a close-knit group of family and friends who are her most treasured possession. She loves to entertain, and she believes her home is happiest when there are people in it.
